PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Salem International University men's tennis team played its second match in as many days in Philadelphia as the Tigers dropped an 9-0 decision against the Philadelphia University Rams on Friday afternoon (Mar. 31) at the Legacy Youth Tennis Center.
The Rams swept through doubles competition against the Tigers as their No.3 doubles pairing of Sean DeBlasio and Jacob Atri defeated the Tigers' sophomore
Nicholas Milush and sophomore
Antonio Shaw, 8-0. SIU gave Philadelphia its toughest test of the day at the No.2 doubles position as sophomore
Eugene Bour and freshman
Nicolas Martinez almost rallied for a victory against Liviu Trifol and Joseph Sison. Tifol and Sison held on for an 8-6 win against Bour and Martinez.
Sophomore
Landon Schultz-Zwahr fell 6-4,6-2 in his No.1 singles match for the Tigers against Oskar Haedicke, while sophomore
Christian Manalang dropped a 6-1,6-0 decision to Trifol at the No.2 position. The Rams would come away with 6-0,6-0 victories at each of the No.3, 5, and 6 positions. Bour fell-short against Sison, 6-2,6-0 in his #4 singles battle.
The Tigers are scheduled to play Davis and Elkins College on Sunday afternoon (April 2) in Elkins, West Virginia at 12 p.m. SIU will then host West Virginia State University on Thursday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
