CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Competing in the University of Charleston Invitational against seven of the top 10 tennis team in the Atlantic Region, the Salem University Tigers had another solid performance.
Continuing a strong start to the season, five of the nine Salem members who competed in the Charleston Invitational made it to the final day of competition.
"Salem was very fortunate to be invited so such a first-class tennis invitational," Head Coach
Todd Tucker said. "Coach Santen and the University of Charleston gave Salem the opportunity to compete on a very high level.
"I was extremely proud of the way my team competed and represented the university on and off the court. We left Charleston improving on all aspects of our game and, from a coaching standpoint, it allowed me the opportunity to check out the competition for years to come."
Ivan Arevelo paced the Tigers in singles matches, making it all the way to the semifinals, while the duo of
Gregor Lainer and
Patryk Garwacki finished in the top four in doubles' matches. The doubles team of
Antonio Shaw and
