WINGATE, N.C. (Feb. 14, 2018) — When hard work and thorough introspection are applied, today's defeats can be the footholds to tomorrow's victories.
And so, facing a nationally ranked Wingate University, last year's South Atlantic Conference Champions, the Salem University Tigers men's tennis team's 9-0 defeat belies the gap it closed with a prominent, established program.
The Tigers competed hard for every point, staying within closing distance of Wingate in two of its three doubles matches.
"The guys played extremely well in its first match outdoor. They played extremely high levels of competition and had several chances to come away with victories," Head Coach Todd Tucker said. "I have no doubt that with more experience playing these types of matches, we'll fix the mistakes we're making and start to get some victories."
