HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 5, 2018) – The Salem University Tigers men's tennis team opened its participation in the Hilton Head Spring Fest with a hard fought 7-2 loss to Ferris State University.
Ferris State University opened the season in the top 25 of the ITA's NCAA Division II tennis rankings. Salem University managed take a doubles match, a singles match and take three others to three sets.
Patryk Garwacki and Gregor Lanier continued a nice run with a victory over Ferris State's Daniil Tarantinov and Austin Debruyne, winning 8-4.
After losing his first set in singles 7-6, Garwacki recovered to win the second set 6-3, falling short 6-1 in the third.
Ivan Arevalo won his first set 6-3 but dropped the next two 7-5 and 10-7. Lainer won his first set 6-4 but dropped his next two.
Landon Schultz-Zwahr won his match against Simon Levy in two sets, winning 6-2 and 7-5. With the loss, Salem drops to 4-7. They will play Monday, March 5 at 8:30 a.m. against Newberry College.
