Salem University finished third out of nine women's teams and fifth out of nine men's teams as the Tigers opened their 2020 outdoor track and field season Friday at the University of Charleston Golden Eagle Invite at Charleston, W.Va.
Asia Hines won the women's 100 meters and
Indira Rauf won the women's long jump, while
Greg Carr led the men's team with a first-place finish and a second-place finish.

Hines placed first out of nine runners in the 100 meters with a time of 12.70 seconds, while Rauf was third with a time of 12.91 seconds. The field for the women's 100 meters was comprised of runners from Salem and Glenville State College. Rauf also beat out competitors from Charleston and Glenville State in the long jump with a distance of 4.48 meters (14' 8.5"). Wilson-Crockett ran the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.26 seconds

Jasmine Taleni and Makhia Hinton finished sixth and seventh, respectively, out of 17 competitors in the shot put. Taleni threw for a distance of 9.63 meters (31' 7.25") and Hinton threw 9.38 meters (30' 9.25").
Nya Jones finished fourth out of eight runners in the 400 meters with a time of 1:09.49.

The Tigers compiled 56 points to finish eight points ahead of Walsh University and nine points behind Concord University. Glenville State topped the women's team standings. Host Charleston finished fifth, followed by West Liberty University, West Virginia Tech, Bluefield College and Kentucky Wesleyan University.

On the men's side, Carr won the triple jump with a distance of 12.06 meters (39' 7"). He also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.70 meters (18' 8.5").

Delmar Jeter finished second in the triple jump (11.92 meters – 39' 1.25") and sixth in the long jump (5.53 meters – 18' 1.75").
Jovany Lara placed third in the triple jump (11.09 meters – 36' 4.75") and fourth in the long jump (5.58 meters – 18' 3.75").

In running events,
Anthony Cole finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.79, while
Mario Ospina placed fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:50.92.

Salem totaled 56 points to finish 33 points ahead of sixth-place Bluefield and 14 points behind fourth-place Walsh University. Glenville State made it a team sweep with a first-place finish, followed by Charleston and Concord. Kentucky Wesleyan placed seventh, followed by West Liberty and Davis & Elkins College.
