Morgantown, WV- Competing next door to the Women's Water Polo team on Saturday, Tigers Track & Field added to what the other Salem teams were accomplishing in Morgantown. Salem Track & Field notched six top-5 finishes to close out a successful weekend at the Stan Romanoski Open hosted by WVU.
Chris Spellman led the way for the second week in a row, finishing second in the 800 with a school record time of 1:57.72. Spellman teamed up with
Jean-Dean Smith,
Greg Carr, and
Xavier Engleton to finish second in the 4x400 relay.
Engleton had individual success of his own finishing second in the 110 meter hurdles with a school record and personal best time of 15.41.
Other notable performances on the guy side:
Dominic Mazzariello finished fifth in the 1500 (4:32.51)
Delmar Jeter finished fourth in triple jump with a school record leap of 12.34 meters
On the women's side,
Indira Rauf opened up her season with a 12.53 in the 100 meter dash, that time was also good for a school record.
Tiger Track & Field has a week off , and will return to action on April 2nd when they travel back to Morgantown.
