KINGSPORT, Tennessee – The Salem swim team headed out for day 2 of the Conference Carolinas Championship. Today Consisted of 4 events – the 500-yard Freestyle, the 200 yard Individual Medley, the 50 yard Freestyle and the 200 yard Freestyle relay. Two more records were added to the books today, the first was broken by
Jaden Welsh in the 200-yard IM. She touched the wall in 2:08:07 which gave her a bronze medal in the event and set a new school record. The second record broken was the men's 200-yard Freestyle relay which consisted of Joan Cortadellas, Fernando Gomez, Zachary Bell and
Brady Samuels. The men's new record time of 1:25:10 put them in 6
th place overall. The women's 200 Yard freestyle relay also placed 6
th with a time of 1:41:36 – the team included
Jaden Welsh,
Ivani Kamidoi,
Sofia Castillo and Cheyanne Rhode.

In the individual events,
Jakub Husar placed 9
th in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 4:49:09. Fernando Gomez also placed 9
th in the 200-yard IM coming in at 1:55:19. Cheyanne Rhode placed 10
th in the 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 24:79.
Brady Samuels also placed 10
th in the 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 21:17. The tigers will be back tomorrow for day 3 of the conference championships.
