Salem Swimming Hosts Tri-Meet at The Bridge

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Salem University men's swimming team delivered a strong all-around performance to claim first place, while the women continued to gain valuable experience at the Jan. 10 College Meet held at The Bridge Sports Complex.

The Salem men finished atop the team standings with 23 points, edging Frostburg State (20) and Southern Virginia (11). The women placed third overall, continuing to build momentum against a competitive field that included Frostburg State and Southern Virginia.

Salem's men were led by standout performances in both individual and relay events. Nandor Voros earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle, touching first with a time of 1:51.27, while also contributing to the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. The relay quartet of Riquelio Joseph, Voros, Kelvin Caesar, and Elias Maurer posted a meet-best time of 1:27.16 to close the competition.

Joseph was a consistent top finisher for Salem, placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (54.78) and adding a strong performance in the 50-yard freestyle (22.86). Maurer also recorded an individual win, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.30.

Distance swimmers Jakub Husar and James Fenner provided key points in the freestyle events, finishing third and fourth respectively in the 500-yard freestyle, while Alvaro Arruga Moreno placed second in the 200-yard butterfly.

On the women's side, Courtney Repinz highlighted Salem's efforts with a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 47.98. Repinz also anchored the Tigers' 200-yard freestyle relay, which finished fourth overall.

Additional strong swims came from Cheyanne Rohde, who placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, and Mackenzie Hamilton, who recorded a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. Salem also saw solid efforts from Lucy Bramwell in the distance events and Emma Donnelly in the breaststroke races.

Salem will look to build on the men's team victory and continued development on the women's side as the Tigers prepare for their next meet later this season.
