Salem University finished fifth out of 10 men's teams and sixth out nine women's teams as the Tigers opened their 2019-20 Indoor Track and Field season at the Marietta College First Glimpse Saturday at Marietta, Ohio.

In the men's competition, Salem earned 18 of its 52 total points in the men's triple jump as Jovany Lara and
Delmar Jeter captured the top two spots. Lara posted a distance of 12.30 meters to edge out Jeter at 12.24 meters.

The Tigers also earned points in a pair of distance events. Anthony Cole finished second out of six runners in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.85, while
Dominic Mazzariello placed second out of 12 runners with a time of 4:43.61 in the mile run.

In the women's competition,
Asia Hines and Indira Rauf combined for 23 of the Tigers' 40 total points. Hines placed second out of 23 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 26.45 seconds. Rauf finished second out of eight competitors in the long jump with a distance of 5.15 meters. Hines (7.50 seconds) and Rauf (7.60 seconds) also finished fifth and sixth in the 55 meters.

Keara Wilson-Crockett finished third out of eight runners in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.45 seconds.

Saturday's meet is the Tigers' lone competition during the month of December. Salem returns to Marietta for two meets in January.
