Two school records were broken as members of the Salem University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Spire Midwest Open Saturday at Geneva, Ohio. The Tigers were represented by five men's and two women's team members. The meet included teams from NCAA Division I, II and III schools.

Xavier Engleton set a school record in the men's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.73 seconds. Engleton placed 13th out of 30 competitors.

Isaiah Harris also set a school record Saturday, posting a time of 2:04.76 in the 800 meters. Harris finished 40th out of 73 runners.

Greg Carr recorded the Tigers' top individual finish of the day, placing seventh out of 43 competitors in the men's long jump. Carr posted a distance of 6.16 meters (20 feet, 2.5 inches).

Mario Ospina posted a season-best time of 9:11.76 in the men's 3000 meters. Ospina finished 30th out of 70 runners.

Dominic Mazzariello finished 57th out of 103 runners in the men's mile run. Mazzariello posted a time of 4:45.14.
Carr, Engleton, Harris and Ospina also teamed up for the men's 4 x 400 relay, finishing 19th out of 25 teams with a time of 3:40.22.

Indira Rauf continued her hot streak with a top 10 finish in the women's long jump. Rauf tied for 10th out of 30 competitors with a distance of 4.64 meters (15 feet, 2.75 inches). She also finished 16th out of 43 runners in the 60 meters with a time of 8.12 seconds.

Asia Hines finished 18th out of 80 runners in the women's 200 meters with a time of 26.42 seconds. Hines also placed 23rd in the 60 meters with a time of 8.25 seconds.

Salem is idle next weekend, then makes a return trip to Ohio February 8 as the Tiger compete in the Tiffin Open, hosted by Tiffin University.
