MORGANTOWN, West Virginia - This weekend our Tigers Swimming teams went to open their season at the West Virginia State Games. The competition was fierce this weekend as our Tigers were competing against Division I schools WVU and Marshall. Other schools competing included Fairmont State, WVU Tech, Davis & Elkins, Wheeling and Bethany. Overall, our women's team had an outstanding performance coming 3
rd just behind WVU and Marshall. This means that the women were the No.1 Division 2 school for the weekend. The men's team also had a fantastic appointment coming 4
th in the weekend behind WVU, WVU Tech and D&E.

There were many fantastic individual performance this weekend. For the Women
Jaden Welsh came 8
th overall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07:85, she came 7
th overall in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28:91. Cheyanne Rohde came 12
th overall in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02:72 and 13
th in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:02:54. The women's 200 yard freestyle relay placed 5
th with a time of 1:43:76. The men also had some great performances, Fernando Gomez placed 8
th in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17:41.
Brady Samuels placed 7
th in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53:26, he also placed 7
th in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:00:99 and he had tied 6
th for the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21:71.
Jakub Husar finished 7
th in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:50:11.The men placed 4
th in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:16:33, 6
th in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30:31 and 7
th in the 200 yard Medley relay with a time of 1:39:49.

After a great season opener for the Tigers, they will be back in action at their home pool in a meet against Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Friday October 21
st.
