Was born April 19, 1917; Since 1935 as a student athlete he has served Sale College as an active supporter and since 1950 served as a member of the Board of Trustee.

As an athlete, Red Kennedy earned eight letters, four each in basketball and baseball. In his sophomore year of basketball, he was the leading scorer with 277 points, a year in which Salem upset West Virginia University and tied with Glenville State for the regular season conference championship.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, he served as Chairman from 1963-1968, and was later elected Trustee Emeritus in 1975.

His support for Salem College in the late 1970's aided a major fund raising effort for the athletic department and a complete reorganization of the athlete department in 1982.

As Chairman of the Board of Trustees, he brought the famous ABC television show "Hoootenenany" to the Salem campus, and led a national marketing effort which produced two major articles in Parade Magazine.

A very successful businessman, he rose through the ranks and was elected President of the Norwhich Pharmaceutical Company in 1969, a position he held for six and a half year in which he had responsibility for the company's business in 104 countries.

In May 1975, he was elected Chairman of the Proprietary Drug Manufacturers Association.
